The first Dome with a Robocoaster by the KUKA company is located at the ski resort Les Deux Alpes, France since December 2007. With dimensions of 16.0 m to 24.0 m at a height of 9.0 mm, the Dome offers enough space for the robotic situation and an exhibition on avalanche protection technology.
The structure of the dome consists of the foundation, the wooden structure and the membrane structure.
The constructive strip foundation of reinforced concrete is circular arranged. The glulam arches are pin-jointed at a distance of 3.0 m on the foundation. The membrane structure is composed of two layers. The top layer for the load transfer and the weather protection is made of a PVC coated polyester fabric. This top layer membrane is tensed between the arches and the foundation. The preload of the membrane against the foundation was established by a adjusting of the threaded rods. The second layer membrane is tensed between the arches consists of a combination of a PVC coated polyester fabric with an innovative, translucent insulation.
